Watch where you step!
A friend of mine sent me this picture the other day. He was out on his farm in Pike County, Illinois doing some work & walked up on this newborn fawn. It is important to be careful this time of year when mowing or doing work on your farm. The first few weeks of a fawns life they will not get up & run off when danger is present so the burden is on us as land managers to protect them during this time. If at all possible this is the time of year to stay off your property & let the does take care of their fawns. It is such a critical time in a deer's life that it is worth doing anything we can to help them along! You never know.......that little fawn you walk up on could be the next 200" buck in 5 years!
